Dan Blizniak began his martial arts journey over two decades ago in Dayton, Ohio. Early in his training, he purchased a Brazilian Cherry bokken for class, but it wasn’t long before his roots in woodworking—passed down from his father, a skilled carpenter from Buffalo, New York—sparked a new path.
Driven by curiosity and craftsmanship, Dan began experimenting with exotic hardwoods, crafting his own bokken. The positive feedback from fellow practitioners led to the birth of Blizniak’s Bokken—a venture where traditional martial arts meet innovative design.
Though his martial arts training paused after relocating to Buffalo, Dan’s passion never faded. He now channels that energy into creating custom training tools that blend the timeless beauty of exotic woods with modern techniques like 3D printing and advanced laminating. Among his favorite materials: the incredibly dense and revered Lignum Vitae, or “Tree of Life.”
Dan’s mission? To offer martial artists and dojos around the world high-quality, handcrafted weapons that honor the spirit of their practice.
