Today’s guest, Vlad Koulikov, began his martial arts journey at the renowned Sambo 70 academy, one of the most prestigious training institutions in the world. His early success in competition includes earning gold and silver medals in two All-Soviet Cups.
After moving to the U.S., Vlad continued to make his mark, medaling in three U.S. Open events and representing America in the Combat Sambo World Championship. He also claimed multiple medals at Grapplers Quest and NAGA, earning the title of “Most Technical Fighter”—all before receiving any formal Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training.
In 2017, Vlad officially earned his BJJ black belt, further solidifying his expertise in grappling. Today, he runs the Koulikov Grappling Academy in Edinburg, TX, where he teaches a unique blend of Sambo and BJJ. In addition to running his academy, he travels extensively for seminars and has produced several instructional DVDs.
Join me as I sit down with Vlad Koulikov to discuss his incredible journey, the evolution of his training, and his passion for teaching.
Welcome to the show, Vlad Koulikov!
